Laser Cutting ~ Laser Leaves





At the last art fair I was at, a friendly guy struck up a conversation with me. He had purchased a "GlowForge" laser cutter - a much nicer model than my cheap Chinese knock-off. He was impressed with my work and actually paid me more for a symmetry box than I had been asking. He wouldn't take no for an answer and said he was impressed with my tight registration. Later, we engaged in a few back-and-forth emails. I was impressed with his painterly approach to using his cutter - much more artistic than my graphic design style. One of his pieces was a cutting on a leaf. This inspired me to give it a try myself. Lisa and I went on a hike through Oak Knoll Park and came home with literally a bucketful of leaves. Later, I had fun cutting designs in them with my laser:
